Stop the abuse of workers in Nashville hotels

    1. Petition by

      Worker's Dignity / Dignidad Obrera

I support housekeepers who are standing up to end abuses from their boss. Violations of minimum wage law, and other worker abuses are unacceptable and make southern hospitality look bad.

"According to the lawsuit, the hotels, the Best Western Music Row on Division and the Comfort Inn Downtown on Demonbreun, paid housekeepers as little as $3.50 an hour and made them work up to 70 hours a week without breaks.

“I am not asking for anything extra. I am only asking for what is fair,” said plaintiff Henry Hernandez, 29, who worked in construction in Los Angeles before moving to Nashville some months ago. The worst part, Hernandez said, is that management “didn’t do anything to stop it.”" - From the Tennessean ( http://www.tennessean.com/article/20130215/NEWS/302150115 )

You are invited to join the worker as they march to their workplace, at 12pm on February 17. Meet at Workers' Dignity workers' center: 3753 Nolensville Pike

Intentional abuse of a human being doing his or her part of a professional bargain is unconscionable.

Raj Aggerwal has obtained extremely significant amount of economic power over the Antioch community. If he practices slavery, we are concerned about the damage he could inflict on our struggling community and that he would exploit an entire community the way he exploited his workers.

Poor treatment of laborers is one of the most shameful chapters of our country's history. The biggest shame is that this chapter isn't over.
