Stop LGBT Hate in Russia

    1. Sponsored by

      National Center for Lesbian Rights

What is happening in Russia is horrifying.

Over the past few months, Russia has enacted a series of new laws scapegoating LGBT people and silencing any positive discussion of LGBT issues. These toxic laws forbid any public advocacy or positive discussion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people, ban same-sex couples from adopting children, and even prohibit the use of the internet to share information about the LGBT community. The campaign of terror against the LGBT community in Russia continues unabated.  Just recently a new proposed law would remove children from same-sex parents and terminate the parental rights of anyone engaging in “homosexual behavior.” What is happening in Russia is a nightmare—for all of us. Please join us in supporting LGBT advocates in Russia and across the world who are speaking out.

You can make a difference. Together, we can fight back against what is happening in Russia and turn back the tide of unchecked homophobia. We cannot stand silently by while countless LGBT people and allies are being hurt and targeted by these draconian laws. This scapegoating of LGBT people must stop, and these laws must be repealed.

By signing this petition, you are calling on companies that have non-discrimination policies and do business in Russia to condemn the scapegoating of LGBT people and demand that the Russian government repeal these dangerous laws, which have sparked violent attacks against people suspected of being LGBT.

Your petition will be delivered to the CEOs of these companies, urging them to use their influence to speak out publicly and to press Russian officials to end their campaign of terror against the LGBT community.

This petition will be delivered to the following companies: 3M, Accenture, Akin Gump, American Express, Apple, Avon, Baker & McKenzie, Boeing, Booz Allen Hamilton, Boston Consulting Group, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cargill, Chevron, Cisco, Citi, Coca-Cola, Dell, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Diageo, Eli Lilly & Company, Ernst & Young, GlaxoSmithKline, Goldman Sachs, Google, HP, IBM, ING, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, KPMG, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Oracle, PepsiCo, PwC, Procter & Gamble, Qualcomm, and Xerox.

These companies have influence. Their leadership on this issue is essential. Please help us let these CEOs know how passionately you care about this issue.

Many of these companies generally have a strong record of supporting the LGBT community and leading the way with workplace policies that respect and protect LGBT employees. We are asking these corporations to lead by example and advocate for the safety and equality of the LGBT community in Russia.
