Stop Anti-Women Groups From Shaping Reproductive Health Policy

    1. Sponsored by

      CREDO Action

We have a chance to undo one of the worst decisions of this administration when it comes to women's reproductive health and make birth control for women free by designating it preventative health care. The

Department of Health and Human Services is revisiting its earlier decision on this issue. In fact, HHS issued hearings on what services should be considered preventative care for women and a panel of experts will issue a recommendation to HHS about what services should be free under the new health reform law.

Yet again, it appears the Catholic Bishops and other anti-woman groups are the ones shaping these discussions.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops testified formally during the first meeting of the panel. Why are Bishops weighing what does or doesn't qualify as preventative health care for women?

HHS has a unique opportunity to decide to give women complete and comprehensive health care, including critically important reproductive health care.

Help ensure women's reproductive health is covered in preventative care: tell the Department of Health and Human Services to listen to women, not the Catholic Bishops, and mandate free access to birth control.

To:
Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services
I stand for women's reproductive health. The Department of Health and Human Services should listen to women, not the Catholic Bishops, and mandate free access to birth control.

Sincerely,

Sincerely,

Thank you for signing a contraception petition. Please read my petitions advocating municipal environmental

contraception funding, which is increasingly politically realistic due

to The Big Sort in more and more towns, and helps women's right's, quality of life, and school taxes as well as being at least 5 times more cost-effective than any other environmental effort.

The prochoice and contraception movements are placing too high a priority on defensive actions in the red states when we should be going on the offensive, the side of "change", in the blue states, and cities. The worst places

will get even worse no matter what we do, but the unrealized political potential, the low hanging fruit, is in making the best places even better. This opportunity is being caused by The Big Sort.

Religion used to be society's science fiction. It's obsolete - has it's merits- but never furthers understanding. Just a question: when those towers went down why didn't anybody say that what was lost that day was the ability of any religion to be a story, first!. If you really stopped to think about it, that was an even more unspeakable tragedy. I'm still waiting for somebody to say that.

Do not make such a rash and unwise decision. Free birth control is one of the best decisions a government can make! We're facing overpopulation and the ecological dangers that it causes. Women will end up having more children they cannot afford, which is more money for the government to pay in the long run. Women will end up putting more children in the adoption and foster care systems, which is an already over-run system that doesn't need more children! Listen to women, not theocrats. Mandate free access to birth control. Birth control absolutely IS preventative care and should be covered no matter what. Do the intelligent, responsible, and ethical thing and support women's rights and health and the economy!

Sign this petition that calls for the women's freedom of choice act into law. This law makes abortion explicitly legal by the congress and the President.
