      Dear Friends,
Next week Tuesday the Board of Education is scheduled to vote on the Transformation Plan. It is clear we need our message to be heard. This plan closes buildings while our budget is currently balanced with 22 Million in savings. The Privatization of our schools,Teach for America taking the place of much more qualified GRPS Teachers, and the obliteration of the North Side's public school presence are all results of the Superintendent' s proposed plan. Please reach out to those you know who are affected and angry. Please ask them one more time to sign the petition and ask them please to join us on Saturday at Rosa Parks Circle at Noon for our March of the Stakeholders. Bring signs!

As Local Governments Shrink, Private Consultants Reap Rewards

"I would probably bring in McKinsey," Mitt Romney once told the Wall Street Journal editorial board, explaining how he might, should he win in November, hire management consultants to help shape a presidential cabinet. Romney, a devotee of corporate culture who began his career at the Boston Consulting Group, promises to transfer that technocratic ethos and private-sector reverence to the Oval Office.

    10. Remember Warm Safe and Dry?

      Amanda Wilkinson-Brown

One year ago I was campaigning hard for the Warm Safe Dry Millage. More than 5 million dollars of the funds taxpayers approved were slated to go Creston and the other schools that will be closed in the district. Was this a "bait and switch" from GRPS ? How are taxpayers going to trust GRPS with funds in the future?

    14. The plan has another issue of importance. Charter schools.

      Amanda Wilkinson-Brown

The plan suggest GRPS open charter schools! Public charter schools? Is that not an oxymoron

I am a\teacher in GRPS at Creston High School and believe the north end community deserves a high school that has been continuing to make great strides.

It is fundamentally important that we not create charters and other corporate operations that seek to profit off of our children's education AND skim excellent students to leave only the least privileged in public schools.

Creston High School has been a great experience. Personally I feel the school showed the most academic achievements while I was there. I was a graduate of 2012. Top 10 of my class!!!

I graduated from this school and made some life long friends. The teachers are awesome here and I don't want to see something great end.
