California's discriminatory Prop. 8 says that loving, committed same-sex couples aren't worthy of marriage. And the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) says legally-married gays and lesbians can't have the 1000+ federal rights and benefits straight married couples enjoy.

This month, the Supreme Court will issue rulings in these cases – rulings that will profoundly affect the future of LGBT people and their families.

Anti-gay activists are trying to say that America isn't ready for full equality. But poll after poll proves a majority of Americans support marriage equality – and it's up to us to show the country what that support looks like.

Sign HRC's Majority Opinion petition now to show that we stand with the millions of people whose lives are affected by these discriminatory laws.

Love is love. Ideally it is not just about romance, but mutual commitment and support as well. I realize that this is not always achieved (hence divorce), but that is the reason people marry, THAT is why marriage exists. By saying that same-sex couples cannot marry, you are denying two people the right to fully support each other by making that vow. You are denying commitment based on the presence of a set of relatively trivial organs. You are denying something that humans have written and sang and celebrated for all of our history. You are denying love.
