The city isn't allowing the Dynamic Approach Marching Band to practice any longer at the Activity Center and they also took the drums away from the kids. Therefore, our children are now forced to practice outside in the cold and sometimes even on rainy days. To alot of the kids band is their only escape from running the streets and doing negative things. Band is a positive activity that the kids really enjoy. If the city takes it away then where will our children go? and what will they have to do? The members of the Marching Band look forward to meeting every week and performing for others when given the opportunity. All we're asking for a minute of your time to sign our petition to help keep our youth off the streets and doing positive. Please help us keep Dynamic Approach Marching Band ( D.A.M.B ) alive.

The Dynamic Approach Marching band needs your help and support. The city has taken away something the kids really enjoying doing n that staying off the streets and doing something positive. They taken away the activity center and the drums that the band used to march through the streets of Newburgh to prove to the residents that its not all bad there is some good going on around us. Our children our future so why is the city not giving out youth a chance? As soon as we find good in something they come and take it away. The kids love what they do and look forward to band every week. Their hearts are heavy right now knowing that all their hard work, long hours , sweat & tears along with loyal dedication may come to end. We as a community n parents need to prevent the city from putting out youth out in the streets. We need our voices to be heard loud n clear and let the city know that the way they're treating our youth is wrong. We need letters, signatures on our petition, supporters to march with us to meet with us so we can Save our Youth. We can't let the city crush the dreams of our youth who really wants to make it in life
This is a serious matter for the members n the parents who stride for excellent when it comes to the well being and future of our children?
Just ask yourself if we allow they city this knock us down, what do we really stand for especially if we can't stand for our children

"For most of recorded history, parental violence against children and men's violence against wives was explicitly or implicitly condoned. Those who had the power to prevent and/or punish this violence through religion, law, or custom, openly or tacitly approved it. …..The reason violence against women and children is finally out in the open is that activists have brought it to global attention."

      -- Riane Eisler

The natural state of motherhood is unselfishness. When you become a mother, you are no longer the center of your own universe. You relinquish that position to your children.

      Jessica Lange

If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.

      Mahatma Gandhi

It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.

Why did the city bar them from practicing there? I'm sure they

      would negotiate so they could

get the drums back and continue practicing inside. Has

      anyone tried that?

I was a band member in Jr. high and High School. I went on the get my BA at the University at Stony Brook. Being in the band can keep children doing something positive while keeping them off the streets..
