Please read the atatched article. Missy was left by her owner due to a storm in very tough terrain without food, water or shelter. She was injured and could not walk to safety. He made no attempt to organize any rescue group and made no attempt to go back for her to save her. A couple hiking in the area found her and worked very hard to save her. They did everything they could to save Missy, a dog they did not know. She was very close to death when they found her. She is recovering now but Mr. Ortolani wants his dog back. The couple who saved her, along with others, have expressed interest in adopting her. I am not suggesting that Mr. Ortolani is a bad person but simply that he did not step up to the plate when his dog needed him. Please sign this petition so Missy can go to her new home with the couple who loved her enough to save her.

I feel that I need to make a point about people who do not really care about our best friends, dogs or any other unselfish living creatures.

People who neglect animals should not be allowed to own them.

Ortolani left this dog to die. He should never have a dog again.

I was traveling in Colorado when I heard Missy had been rescued. I felt so proud of the rescuers and their determination to help save her; to say I was horrified and angered by Ortolani's lack of initiative plus his sheer stupidity and selfishness is an understatement.

Our culture has become far too entitled. How dare Ortolani ask for his dog back now that others have done the hard work. He had his chance to do the right thing but took the easiest route. Please don't reward his lack of integrity and caring by returning Missy to him. (I wish there was a way he could be banned from ever having another pet.)
