Save L.A. Chinatown; Stop Walmart

    1. Petition by

Los Angeles Alliance For A New Economy

From the moment Walmart announced plans to open a grocery store in Chinatown, that community has been clear. They don’t want the retail giant’s poverty-wage jobs, nor do they want to see the destruction of Chinatown’s small businesses and unique neighborhood character.

But Walmart won’t take no for an answer. So now it’s up to the City Council – and to us.

Ten councilmembers already have pledged their support for an emergency law to stop Walmart and other chains from locating in Chinatown. We need two more votes to prevent Walmart from moving ahead.

Please tell City Councilmembers Tony Cardenas and Joe Buscaino
to vote YES
on the Chinatown Interim Control Ordinance.

I work in downtown L.A. and know that opening a Walmart will adversely affect not only by business but also the business of all other shops in the area.

      Will ruin local businesses!

The people who's businesses are in Chinatown would be devastated. The big box store cannibalizes the town and their workers...communities are ruined and we as taxpayers take on the costs of their employees that Walmart does not pay.....And also Chinatown is one of our tourist attractions. We need to keep it!

Chinatown is a precious part of LA's character. Don't crush it under a Walmart .

Same thing happened in MDR, with costco, once they arrived, along came the traffic and congestion and it changed the face of our community and neighborhood from a quaint sleepy town now to a busy busy congested nightmare, especially on weekends. Dont keep allowing corporations to change our cities. Thanks for reading.
