Sacked Queensland mine workers need your help!

    1. Sponsored by

      Australian Unions

Glencore Xstrata has issued termination notices to around 400 mine workers who refuse to accept cuts to their wages and working conditions. The Swiss-based mining giant is taking over the operation of its Collinsville mine and is pushing for individual contracts, knowing that this option will be available to them under an Abbott government.

With an election just around the corner, hard-line employers like mining multinational Glencore Xstrata are excitedly preparing for a possible Abbott election win. He's heard mining bosses loud and clear and built an IR policy that allows individual contracts and Greenfield Agreements that cut workers' take-home pay and conditions -- so employers are getting ready to roll them out.

Let’s support the CFMEU workers: Sign the petition and tell Glencore Xstrata that Australian workers deserve the right to decent wages and working conditions.

To:
Bill McKinstrey, Director – Open Cut Operations
We call on you to act to recall the termination notices to the 400 mine workers. Put people before profits and support this local economy. Honour their existing conditions.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I firmly belive in a fair go we are tired of the lies being told to us by our politicians in order that they and I mean abbot and hockey the only ones that they aimed for is the poor they want two classes the rich and the poor they want to drive our wages down so the top end of town slowly get richer off the rest of us they are at present doing the same in the us driving the middle completely out then things will get worse they will put the jobs that we have now over in countries like Vietnam

all these little tin pot dictators that have absolutely no care for the workers rights but stand up to these thugs and keep your jobs fight with every last one of you let them know that your onto them everyone that can use a computer get on them and start asking questions keep our democracy don't let anyone try robbing us of our country and our lifestyle

Miners throughout the world are being mistreated and thrown off to the side while stockholders and CEO's continue to rake in millions of dollars of profits and bonuses. It's time to take care of the ones that actually do the labour that earn those profits for those that don't work. Solidarity
