The RSPCA is deceiving consumers and profiting from animal suffering
Animal Liberation Victoria (ALV) has been investigating the RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme, from which the RSPCA receives royalties, for the last 14 months. Over this time routine animal cruelty and filthy living conditions were documented on several RSPCA Approved Farms.
ALV's investigation at www.freerangefraud.com has clearly exposed the fraudulent nature of the RSPCA’s scheme and the failure of higher welfare regulations to ensure pigs are afforded even the most basic of comforts and care. The very fact that the RSPCA profits from the scheme they regulate (through accreditation and royalties) is a huge conflict of interest.
During ALV’s investigation 18 pigs were rescued. They suffered various injuries and illnesses including pneumonia, broken legs, cerebral palsy, testicular hernias, open necrotic wounds, septic arthritis, vaginal prolapses, and failure to thrive due to skeletal deformities. The rescue teams routinely saw pigs living chest deep in their own excrement, repeatedly found corpses in various stages of decay, and witnessed dead pigs being cannibalised.
Pigs are highly intelligent social animals with the ability to feel both pain and pleasure. They are not ‘things’ for humans to breed, slaughter, consume and profit from.
Free range is a fraud that is betraying the animals and the public. Don’t buy the lies! Sign our petition to demand the RSPCA
(1) Get out of business with animal industry, and
(2) Fully disclose the locations of RSPCA Approved farms and the amount of royalties received from sales of slaughtered animal products carrying the RSPCA Approved Farming Paw of Approval.
