I was scanned at Bournemouth hospital during pregnancy, they had difficulty finding blood flow from her heart, when approached they admitted this but ASSUMED it was down to my high BMI and so didnt note this down for my baby just to be checked at birth. Instead my daughter has suffered the worst journey possible over something that could of been changed through a 2 minute pulse oximetry test at birth.

A 2 minute pulse oximetry test does not harm the baby in any way, but it can save your babys life. 1 in 100 babies are born with a CHD (Congenital Heart Defect) .. Most are detected during scans, some are not. But had Bournemouth Hospital noted down their difficulties whether concerned or not, My daughter would not of had to endure 6 cardiac arrests 2 respitary arrests, open heart surgery (whilst critical), and brain damage. She still would of needed Open Heart Surgery, but she would of been taken if not born in Southampton General At birth and treated straight away. She would not of died so many times and been resuscitated so many times or even suffered from brain damage had they of noted their difficulties down.

Please sign this petition and make this hospital realise that their actions have cost my child a healthy normal life and we now face the unknown with this life limiting condition.

all it would of taken was one simple note stating they ''had difficulty finding outflow but feel this may of been due to mums BMI please double check baby at birth''. SIMPLE !! And would of saved her life alot sooner.

You can follow my daughters Journey through her Facebook Page. I have set this up to highlight just what it is like for a child and their family to live with a CHD.

It has now been two months since my last update and still not a single letter from Bournemouth Hospital. Despite them telling the local paper Daily Echo that they would be in touch with us soon back in October when they published a story saying Farewell to our little girl. That's makes it now 3 months since they told the local paper and the whole of Dorset what they would do. I have to say I have well and truly lost all faith in the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and their management. They have failed us in a way no parent can ever forgive, Their negligence meant our daughter lost her life, their ignorance and lack of acknowledgement has cos a bad report on them.

    3. Megans Conditions

I fail to see how this hospital could not spot ANY of the following defects within my child:

Coarctation of the Aorta (Main artery from heart shut)
HLHS (Left side of heart smaller than right)
Mitral Stenosis (Narrowing of left valve in heart)
VSD (Significant hole in the heart)
Thymus BONE (Now i know scans pic up bone this bone shouldnt of been there in the first place)
Dysplasia Right kidney (Kidney like a lumpy golf ball but they noted both were seen fine)
SVC Blockage (Caused by thymus so no blood flow through it)

One defect maybe but SEVEN defects here and not one was noted down DESPITE them already noticing there was no blood flow from the left side of the heart !!

    4. STILL NO NEWS DESPITE PROMISES

So despite promises of getting in touch, we have still heard nothing. Angry to say the least. Because of their neglect we have now had to bury our child!! Our poor baby girl suffered for nine long months instead of being seen straight after birth and in theatre within the first 24 hours of her life.

    5. SAD NEWS HEAVY HEART

We still haven't heard nothing back from Bournemouth Hospital and are now angered at their neglect as our beautiful little girl passed away on the 1st October 2013 just 9 months old. All of this could of been so easily avoided and she could of been saved alot sooner .. NO THANKS TO BOURNEMOUTH MATERNITY .. A place I will NEVER trust again with mine or my childrens lives !!!

    6. Meeting

We arrived at the meeting with a third party. Before the meeting my husband had been on the phone to the person conducting the meeting and was told we were going to get some answers.

      We didn't.

Instead we were told there were guildlines to follow .. which is what we want changing, we were also told communcations would change and we would receive a call that day to let us know something would be done. We didn't receive that call. Throughout the meeting I feel the only answer we actually received was ''We will look into it'' of which we were there 'to get answers' so feel they didn't need to look into things. We wasn't satisfied this meeting went as well as it should of done. We don't just want word of mouth we want it written down on their guideline notes to be done in their training notes, not just word of mouth or a letter.

We have received an appointment in the post. And so we have held off any legal Action until we have had this meeting in order to see if this matter can be resolved. We will be seeking Legal ADVICE tho after this meeting should we not be satisfied with the results.

The meeting is for today the 19th July 2013. I have prepared myself with numerous questions and will give an update soon.
Thankyou for all your signatures, please keep sharing and signing, My mission is to protect other families from going through the same thing and I will not stop until something has been changed.

Its now a month since we requested yet another meeting with royal bournemouth hospital. We get the impression my medical notes are being tampered with as why it is taking so long to open a diary and give us a date. However I still have my full pregnancy notes :) ... In the meantime because of their failings my daughter is back is in intensive care for the FIFTH TIME!! SHe has had to undergo a FIFTH life saving operation. Alot of this could of been avoided by one simple note instead we now live our lives seperatee as a family and even my husband is facing the sack from his work because of his time off more added stress to an already strrssful situation. Our financial state is at an all time strain as it is costing our family over 600 pounds a week to live seperately in hospital and our children missing out on famil. Times due to one parent always beimg at the hospital.. So thankyou bournemouth hospital for your plain ignorance we are now taking legal action.

As of today's date (15/06/2013) I am still awaiting for an appointment to have a meeting with the chief executive of Bournemouth Hospital. We have made numerous calls and only succeeded to speak to someone once. We were told that they would see when the relevant people were available and would get back to us. Today we are still no further forward.

Received a letter today from Royal Bournemouth Hospital regarding my online petition, offering me a meeting. I shall take up this offer .. providing this time someone is available for me to make an appointment as last time this offer was given conveniently nobody was able to book me a meeting.

Local MP Connor Burns wrote to the cheif executive of Bournemouth Hospital on my behalf with regards to my complaint. The response was got back (altho attempted to be worded ''politely'') was pretty offensive and rude. Whether I was overweight or not, this does not excuse the FACT that they felt they had difficulties finding this outflow and DIDNT record it down.

my elderly mother was admitted for a simple investigation on a hand. then received major surgery resulting in a stroke and POCD. this has totally destroyed her life quality due to loss of cognitive ability and her world now is nothing but anxiety. she now requires private care and support. operation was not only not required but also unsuccessful due to negligent after care. so many errors by this hospital so made a formal complaint. resulted only in an apology and reference to a consent form that my mother signed. my complaint was in the hope that the hospital would acknowledge the issues and review its procedures to hopefully lower the risk for other elderly patients to suffer in the way my mother has. nothing doing - absolutely appalling. can not add further anxiety to my mother by taking legal action but why should they get away with it.

Any anomolies should be followed up as the action required at the birth of this little one would not have taken much, I know I have seen them done. Perhaps more babies would be given a better quality of life then.
