Respect Local Control: Stop the State Charter School Authorizer HB702/SB830

    1. Petition by

Standing Together 4 Strong Community Schools

This legislation, which applies to every county in the state, would allow a newly appointed panel to override our locally elected school boards' decisions regarding charter schools. The state charter panel would have sole oversight of charter schools it approves, meaning local tax dollars would be obligated to support schools with no local input or control. Decisions about schools and the use of local tax dollars should be left to local officials, elected by local citizens, who understand the needs of our unique communities.

I support public schools. And I am sick to death of the american taliban GOP, and their bigotted christian agenda. they do not belong in our government.

The orginial bill WITHOUT the admendments which cost WE the tax payers a ton of money, was good. No cost to us, and a procedure to appeal. Just say no on this bill.

The State doesn't have the right knowledge to tell every local system how to run their schools. What is good for the goose could kill the gander.

As a former city councilman, I know it is important for Nashville to maintain control of it's schools.

The state should not be allowed to direct the expenditure of local tax dollars in the way this bill would permit.
