Remove "under God" from the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance

All over America schools are forcing their students to "believe" in a God by making them say "one nation under God" in the pledge of allegiance. Schools claim that they don't force students to say the pledge but some teachers do just this. The US pledge should be unbiased in religion. I for one refuse to say this part and risk getting a detention from my teacher. This part of the pledge is against other religions who don't believe in one God or believe in no God. This needs to change! The 1st amendment in the constitution claims freedom of religion, while this is true the pledge is being unconstitutional because of this one statement and needs to be corrected immediately! The pledge should be reverted back to its original saying of just one nation. Try to imagine the single best way to advertise a product or an idea -- or an ideology. Imagine if you could get your product, idea, or ideology advertised on money. Every single American citizen, from cradle to grave, would be forced to see it on an almost daily basis. Well, one organization has been able to do just that -- the Christian church. The Pledge Of Allegiance if not absolutely mandatory is certainly compulsory. It is nothing less than obscene to force children to promise allegiance to a god that they have not chosen to believe in. Again, the US government is stripping parents of their inalienable right to teach their children a specific religion or no religion at all. We the people can change this. We can challenge the constitutionality of this slogan in court, and we can pressure congress to revisit the question. If we support one another and take this issue seriously, yes we can. The Christian church succeeded in altering the US pledge once, well why can't we?

I'm a young Atheist, and all throughout school, I was forced to say this pledge to "My country" when I was actually being forced to pledge to an entity I don't believe in. It's illegal to be forced to say the pledge, as has already been ruled by the supreme court in the case of West Virginia vs. Barnette, 1943. I always hated it, and now I find out that schools all over the country are breaking the law. I'm tired of it, the fact that Atheists are seen as these evil, foul people with no morals, while christians all sit high and mighty, just because they all believe in a mystical man in the sky and silently wish for him to do shit to make their lives better. Excuse my french. Thank you for your time

Our Pledge of Allegiance should not be a divisive issue among Americans. Get your religion out of it and restore it to its original version. This should be one nation, indivisible.

No need to turn patriotism into a religious view.

"one nation with religious and economic freedom"

If "under God" was added in 1954 because the US was fighting against communist atheists, in 2014 we've got other problems - namely Al Qaeda and ISIS who are trying to establish a nation "under God". We're sorely in need of an update.

1954: The pledge was modified when the US was engaged in a battle with communist atheists. 2001, the US is the target of Al Qaeda / ISIS religious zealots who hope to establish a caliphate, i.e. "one nation under God". How about in 2014, we update the pledge to "one nation for religious and economic freedom"?
