Reinstate rail service to Columbus, Ohio

Columbus is the second largest city in the United States without rail service. Columbus had rail service on the "National Limited" route until 1977. As the Ohio Hub project failed due to political maneuvering by Governor Kasich, it's now up to Amtrak to reinstate service to this metropolitan area of 1,800,000. We're the 15th largest metro area in the country and our citizens deserve national rail service once again. I plan on making a rally if this movement gains motion. Likewise, public projects such as transportation cause a "multiplier effect" wherein money invested in said projects give back many times more in economic benefits to the community. Everytime a person signs the petition, an email is sent to Amtrak informing them of our committment to this idea.

with a major rail link between major city's in the Midwest and northeast, and the people who travel on said rail line will create a bigger need for a light or heavy rail system in Columbus

Because I don't drive, but I would love to take the train to California to see my Aunt Alice

I would take the train to Columbus from New York, if I could, and if it was reasonably comparable to driving cost.
