DON'T WANT SHARKS TO BE A HISTORY LESSON THAT YOU TELL YOUR GRANDCHILDREN ABOUT? THEN SHARE THIS PETITION. SHARE SHARE SHARE TO MAKE CAMERON AWARE!!

STOP LOCAL NEWSPAPERS AND MEDIA FROM PROMOTING THESE TOURNAMENTS

Sharks are harvested for sport, meat and cartilage, liver oil and, especially, for their fins. Many of the animals die when people harvesting other kinds of fish pull in sharks by accident. WE as humans are destroying Mother Earth. We are killing our eco system. What example are such tournaments setting for future generations to come when we are not here?Sharks are valuable in the ocean. Sharks eat injured and diseased fish. Their hunting means that other fish do not become too great in number. This protects other creatures and plants in the ocean. We swim in THEIR habitat. THEIR ocean, rather than kill them let's UNDERSTAND them. Plus...think of all the amazing documentaries by Sir David Attenborough we would have missed out on, had they not been here in the oceans and seas!!

I surf the NJ coast. I see first hand the destruction of not only sharks , but skates, rays and other fish by fisherman fishing off jettys, the beach WHILE I AM TRYING TO SURF, idiots just past the shore break chumming water I am surfing and swimming in and morons using weighted multi hook rigs dragging them below my feet so I or someone else can get snagged on them. There is NO reason to catch a shark, especially here in south jersey. They damamge or destroy these beautiful NEEDED animals as well as many other species. A friend was on the beach a week ago when a adolescent hammerhead washed up. It had a large leader and weight hooked in it's mouth, it was struggling to swim, it also had more than one hook still left in it. He removed the gear and set it free----Many "fishermen" or as I call them scumbags catch and kill sharks here "to keep us safe on the beach"....there needs to be some SERIOUS action taken here in New Jersey, and it has to happen NOW. We have fishermen from Pennsylvania pouring into our state to "hunt for sharks" due to a news broadcast on CBS 10 Philadelphia about a large shark seen by and attempted to be caught by two redneck fishermen.. we are inundated by idiots here now blasting around our inlets and offshore sites to "hook jaws".. It makes me physically sick. And remember I am the one wading out on sandbars with sandbar/brown sharks, I am the one with a seal like silhouette sitting on a surfboard in deep water waiting for surf , I am the one in THEIR habitat that could possibly be in danger---and I still feel adamant these useless fishing tournaments be stopped immediately. The key to our existence is the ocean and everything found within it. If we DO NOT OVER fish, fish IRRESPONSIBLY or pollute, we just may survive as long as sharks....maybe!

We need, in a special way, to work twice as hard to help people understand that the animals are fellow creatures, that we must protect them and love them as we love ourselves.”
