March 1 - Held rally, visited President Hirshman’s office and demanded meeting
March 23 - Delivered letter demanding open forum with President Hirshman
April 2 - Over one month later, the administration has not answered our demands
In light of recent decisions to raise fees and administrative salaries while potentially disenfranchising an entire generation of Californians who rely on the CSU system for a chance to build a better future, we held a peaceful rally on March 1st. At the rally, it became apparent that a meeting with you was urgently needed. Unfortunately, you were not present, but your representatives promised students you would arrange to meet with the campus community to discuss their concerns. Two weeks ago, on 3/23 we delivered a letter in person to formally demand an open forum to discuss the concerns of the campus community and gave you ample time to respond. We are dismayed that you have chosen to ignore the concerns and effort of SDSU students, faculty, staff, and workers. Despite assurances by Student Life & Leadership, thus far no effort has been made on the part of the university to schedule the open forum we've demanded, and there is no indication that forum will be forthcoming.
We the undersigned members of the SDSU community reiterate the absolute necessity of holding an open forum to discuss matters of common concern before the end of this semester. This is a matter of no small significance. The futures of a generation of Californians are on the line and ignoring us is no longer an option.
