The Fundy Health Center in Blacks Harbour is very important to me and my family. There have been many, many incidents over the years that have taken us there and the care we've received has been phenomenal. Going to SJRH or CCH can involved long waits after a long drive. This is not in the best interest of our communities. It is not a service that is taken lightly. It is important to have great health care closely available to all citizens of our province. Please don't put us to a disadvantage and risk, especially our children and seniors. Thank you.

To all affected, I'd like to express my personal opinion.

As I am all too aware finding and recruiting physicians to service small rural areas such as ours is a challenge. We have a dedicated group of local doctors that service thousands of patients at Fundy Health centre out patient department. This service is vital to the community as wait times and travel affect the ability of our residents to travel to the hospitals in Saint John and St Stephen. Also at play is a very real fact that many New Brunswickers have no family physician and maintaing the ER service at Fundy is crucial to the health and well being of all involved. I need not mention that our overall system is strained beyond reasonablity with respect to wait times, there fore dumping thousands of patients annually on nearby facilities simply magnify the situation and worsen it. I personally feel that as doctors in our area( as I understand ) are not contracted to provide this service as a condition of employment as they make less per patient visit than at their office yet they provide this service as they recognize its importantce to the community. Therefore I feel imposing the fee is unfair. I absolutely understand that Horizon Health is challenged fiscally as all Gov't departents are, but I find putting thee fees on the backs of our doctors who already are making less to provide the service is not a reasonable means of debt recovery. I also wish to voice that much policial pandering has been done on the matter and I find that detrimental to the situation. This is not about politics of the mainstream parties , its a about people, ordinary citizens and hard working doctors. I would urge the minister, Premier and our Doctors to dilligently work to resolve the matter quickly so the health of our citizens are not negatively affected.

      Respectfully

      Mike Chase

      Councillor,

      Village of Blacks Harbour

The fundy health centre is important because sometimes I have a long wait to get into my family Doctor at the office, so I simply go to the health centre to see my doctor. As well I know mamy people that don't have a family Doctor and have no choice but to go to the health centre... People just simply don't have the time to sit at the SJRH for 8+ hours to see a Dr..
