Remove expensive cuts of meat and junk food from the Food Stamp program to save tax payers' money.  Increase penalties for illegal activities involving food stamps.    ALSO: REMOVE FREE phones and even CASH from these cards so they can buy  booze, cigarettes and pornography with it.  MORE WASTE!   You people need to make food stamps BASIC FOOD ONLY to help minimize waste (people SELL their food card for half its value to buy illegal drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and porn with it)--and it would help to have PHOTO ID on it too.

The American food stamp program currently costs us tax payers $86 billion a year. It has come to my attention that the cost of beef is $7 to $11 - even more- a POUND.  Why are food stamp recipients getting lobster, shrimp,  and crab legs - more expensive items. Gourmet cheeses and high priced coffees.

First: NO MORE FREE PHONES!  Also quit giving out free cash.  PHOTO ID should be required prior to check out.  Stricter laws against food stamp fraud.

As an intervention to save tax payers' money meat expensive cuts of meat should not be allowed on the food stamp program; neither should any kind of junk food and soda pop.  Food stamp intent is to feed the poor, not let them eat like royalty. Currently people on food stamps eat better than employed people and the government has become enablers. The food stamp program is supporting OBESITY which leads to heart attack, strokes, diabetes and more disability checks.

Horrendous waste in food stamp program including fast food.

Remember if you abuse a system, you lose it.

Sincerely,

BILLIONS PAID EVERY YEAR ON JUNK FOOD:
"Food stamp participation is at an all-time high, costing taxpayers $80 billion in 2012 alone, but the U.S. Department of Agriculture refuses to make public how much of that money pays for junk food. A 2012 Yale study estimated Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program benefits, formerly called food stamps, pay for $2 billion in sugary drinks alone every year. A 2010 study by the Center for Science in the Public Interest said that spending was even higher, estimating soda companies reap as much as $4 billion each year in SNAP money. SNAP benefits are legally allowed to pay for everything from ice cream to soda. But because the USDA doesn’t make food stamp purchase data public, it’s difficult to know how much that junk food costs taxpayers"

I work for a grocery store and see the abuse of SNAP everyday. I sold a man $172 worth of gourmet coffee. That is rediculous! How is that feeding someone?

I see all the overweight people and kids buying sodas and junk food. When we were raising our kids we bought FOOD since we couldn't afford junk food and I cooked the meals. There were no microwave meals or frozen pizza for my kids.

I have witnessed people passing the card to the person behind them after telling me to get their order as close to $100 as I could. They are selling their benefits.

Make them stop getting tatooes and document the ones they have.
