Release this 3 year old Male Sphynx to a loving home

      Brooklyn, NY

This sweet kitty is skin and bones, living in a cage at Pet Kingdom in Ft Myers, FL, for at least 3 years, with no bed and no prospect of going to a loving home. Pet Kingdom will not let him be released or sold because they want to repeatedly use him for breeding. So he has only a life in this cold empty cage. This is cruel and inhumane. We want him to be released to a loving home and a person with experience with the Sphynx breed, who can care for him and bring him back to health.

We hope you might express your thoughts on their yelp page as well:

Contrary to the owner's claims (see below), an employee of Pet Kingdom told us that at night, this male Sphynx (named Simon) goes in the back in yet another cage with Cali, the female Sphynx who is also unhealthy, overbred, and forced to live her life in a cage.

"Thank you for your concern for Simon, however I must assure you that he is a much loved and cared for cat. He is my personal pet and lives mostly at home with me going back and forth during the day. He is on display most days for a limited time so that other people can observe and enjoy him. No, he is not for sale. I got him from my best friend who lives in Clearwater and we have an understanding that if at any time I cannot keep him, he will be returned to her. He is under very regular veterinarian care by Dr. Wilson at VCA Miracle Mile Animal Clinic. He is in our store weekly. I can assure you that he is in excellent health and contrary to what you may think, he has not lost weight. As long as my cat is being loved and cared for, you have no right to tell me what I can do with my cat anymore than I can tell you how to care for your cats. ~ Charlotte H"

I have been to this place, and have seen this poor kitty. He seems like such a sweet boy, and I have even asked to hold him and been told no, that he was there for breeding and not adoption. Rather than keeping this poor boy cooped up, let someone take him home with the condition that he continue to be used as a stud. Leaving him alone in a little box is cruel and misleading. People think this boy is up for adoption. It's not right to keep him cooped up if he's not allowed to go to a loving home. Please, let someone love this poor boy.

The cat needs to be released as soon as possilble. He desperately needs to be loved, fed, know warmth and know what it is to be wanted and taken care of. It is a sin what is being done to this boy!

Enough breeding, let the cat die happy. He doesn't have that long left.
