Pay teacher Susan Johnson for unpaid suspension due to playing "Same Love" by Macklemore which promotes gay rights

I learned about this issue via a tweet from @Macklemore who sings "Same Love" and the Fox News report on this issue. I think it is a problem that a teacher was suspended without pay when playing a song about tolerance, specifically about gay rights, but also applicable to understanding those who are "different" than us. I also think it is inappropriate that this teacher was suspended for doing so when at the request of one of her students. I would like for the South Lyon school district to restore the teacher's pay and continue to evaluate how tolerance and diversity are taught in their schools.

It's amazing that this teacher is trying to open the eyes of her students. I wish I had a teacher like this when I was young. I didn't realize I was gay until I was 28 years old. Children should be taught to be open-minded to all others.

As someone who is bisexual i think this is ridiculous. This is important to me because this could be me or any one of my friends, that the world punishes for just having a open and loving all humans the same.

Because i feel that gay people have rights too and it is time for all humans to accept that.

It's basic human rights. The song helps educate. The things learned in the song can be shared with their family and friends...

Students need to be taught tolerance and the people who tech them need to be praised not punished.
