DO NOT KILL pets rescued from the central Ok and Moore tornadoes.

    1. Petition by

      Akron, OH

Pets brought into the shelter after May 31 at 5PM are no longer classified as Tornado Pets and therefore are subject to normal shelter timing and do not get the 30 day reprieve. Due to the extreme damage and additional storms and tornados that have ravaged the area, there should be at the very least a 3 week extension to the "Tornado Pet" designation so dogs turned in now have that protection.

These pet owners should be given ample time of 30 days or more to find their lost pet. An extension of time for owners to find thier pets and MORE than 30 days is very nessary !!! The donations and money gifts being received should be more than enough to accommodate with this extreme circumstance.

These pets & owners should lawfully be aloud to be returned/reunited to there owner with out paying any kind of fees if it was displaced because of the Tornadoes.

I network for a group that works to save the dogs at Altus animal control in Oklahoma. There are so many in need right now, all in great danger of being killed this week (probably today / tomorrow). Many of them were brought to this shelter from smaller ones just to be killed ... and with no hold time the ACO always lists these dogs first to be euthanized. They got no networking in the smaller shelters and get no time to be networked here We have a voluntary transport system that would be able to get dogs to you and were wondering if you might be able to help any of them? I attach the latest in need document we have of the most urgent. Any extra information you need I will try and get for you. Anything you could do to help would be so appreciated.... they all deserve a chance of a better life... not to die in a shelter where they are unloved. The larger dogs especially are getting no attention at all. Please see page 2 for links & contact information. Thanks

Thank you so much EVERYONE for signing this petition!! PLEASE CONTUINE TO SIGN HERE!! It is very important that I get this sent in soon, so I will be closing this petition in the morning, and sending it to all the offices listed on this page. Our voices will be heard, and the OK lost and found pets deserve a chance to be reunited or rescued for as long as it takes to be reunited with their families. They need to be saved from any harm or even worse being put to sleep.

People will be looking for lost pets following these weather related disasters. Don't add to these families' grief by ending the lives of thier pets during this time! Keep them in no-kill shelters & post pictures online so that owners can find them!

71 percent of the public agree that shelters should only be allowed to euthanize pets who are too sick to be treated or too aggressive to be adopted. Please reach out to successful shelters and let them help you help the animals. It's in line with public values and public safety. There is a lot more that can be done to save lives.
