Continue to financially compensate NC's teachers for advanced degrees.

Currently teacher pay in North Carolina ranks 48th in the United States. Not only does the proposed budget in North Carolina not increase teacher pay, it proposes to eliminate pay increases for teachers who received advanced degrees. Teachers who are committed to learning more about how to meet the needs of their students should be rewarded. If this budget goes through, our teachers will simply not be able to afford to further their education and better meet the needs of North Carolina's students.

To:
Continue to financially compensate NC's teachers for advanced degrees.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I just finished my Masters and want to teach in NC. This change is bad for students, teachers, universities and the welfare of the children in our public schools.

You have to provide an incentive for NC educators to further their own education. Otherwise, we will be left with teachers of lower standards than other states. Is this what our children deserve? The future generations of NC are counting on their teachers being as educated as possible.

I am currently a teacher earning a master's degree, and will not be compensated for it.

My brother is a teacher and many other people I know...and they don't make enough to survive in the Raleigh/Cary, NC area.
