NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN

    1. Petition by

      Shelter Rock Jewish Center

We, the undersigned members of the Shelter Rock Jewish Center in Roslyn, New York, call on our American political leadership to support our president’s pledge not to permit Iran to acquire nuclear weaponry. The Iranian leadership has on many different occasions spoken about annihilating Israel and Israel’s six million Jews. We take those threats seriously, having learned the Holocaust's lesson that it is never sound policy to dismiss the rhetoric of genocide as mere bluster. Like all peace-loving citizens, we have hoped for years that diplomacy and severe sanctions could dissuade the Iranians from pursuing the manufacture of nuclear weapons. But we see no convincing evidence of success. Therefore, we  feel obliged to add our voice to the chorus of concerned citizens eager that our country stick to its promise to take nothing off the table, and to do whatever it ultimately takes to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power.

    1. PETITION SENT TO THE PRESIDENT & VICE PRESIDENT OF THE USA

Thanks to all who have signed the petition and for the comments you posted. This petition is officially closed, with a total, including printed copies, of 131 signatures. Most were from SRJC but others came from as far away as Pakistan.

This was our first online petition, in spite of the learning curve and some glitches, we are proud to say that it was successful. Rabbi Cohen has informed me that there will be more to come. It would be my pleasure to help make that a reality.

Again, thanks to all who took the time to petition our government.

    2. EXTENDED DEADLINE TO OCTOBER 31

Thanks to all 65 signers as of the original deadline of Oct. 14., 2012. You are excercising the right of citizens to petition the U.S. government and specifically to state our objection to Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. Your persnal comments make our petition even stronger.

Due to the importance of this matter, Shelter Rock Jewish Center has decided to extend the deadline for this online petition to October 31, 2012. This coincides more closely to the date for individual written petitions available through our office, which are still being submitted to SRJC.

Again, thanks to all of you who have, or will sign, our petition in either format.

    3. NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS PETITION UPDATE

We have exceeded 50 online signatures (59 at this time) most with comments. This figure does not include those petitions which are being snail mailed to the SRJC office. Way to go Shelter Rockers!

The world is turning a blind eye to the largest threat to peace since WW2. Those that don't think so are out of reality.

Iran's intentions with respect to Israel is clear. To take action that has no real effect on the people in charge is a weak response. The threat to Israel is real the threat to a free world and free peoples everywhere is real as well
