MBTA - let your people go

The people of the MBTA--the MBTA loyalists, the mass transit fanatics, those who chose not to drive, parents with small children, mobility impaired people, tourists, sports fans, and more, are not being served by the current plan of only allowing access through the front doors on the Green Line except maybe, sometimes during rush hour or maybe sometimes at certain heavily used stops. Current plan is dangerous (congestion, pushing and missteps are not uncommon), delays the Green Line (all those folks muscling their way to the front delay people getting on) and increases the hassle factor of using mass transit on this line. There are other ways to reduce fare evasion (the stated purpose of the change).

I have hypermobility syndrome - my joints dislocate extremely easily. I use a backpack with wheels for a reason: I shouldn't be picking up anything heavy. The front door policy forces me to pick up my backpack and carry it through a jostling crowd 4 times a day. How would you like to bet I dislocate something while on the T this year? The front door system is unsafe a prejudicial.

This policy punishes the law abiding customers, and surely only saves the T several dollars a day. The few free riders on the green line aren't the reason aren't the reason the MBTA won't be paying off all those pensions in 20 years. Let my people gooooo!

I take the C Line every day to and from work. When I try to be polite and move to the back to make space for those entering the train after me, it is almost impossible for me to shove my way through dozens of people on a full train in time to get off through the front door again at my stop. I have seen elderly people who have been unable to exit at their stops because they could not push their way to the front, and these frail elders had to exit a stop late and walk several blocks backwards to their destination. The new policy makes riding difficult and frustrating, and it wastes everyone's time when riders must line up at a single door and wait for everyone to exit before even the first person can enter. Please let your riders, who choose to utilize mass transit and pay to use the T every day, exit through all doors again!

I take the T to and from school each day. Never before have I dealt with such delays, and I would like to see an improvement in service.
