Victory

From Petition Creator: We won! On the last day of the 2013 legislative session, the Maryland Senate passed the bill, but we created enough pressure on the House that they didn't manage to pass the bill before the session ended at midnight. We lobbied in-person in Annapolis, handed out flyers to legislators, had people call and email in, and had legislators offer amendments to slow the bill down.

Trash incineration is the most expensive and polluting way to manage waste or make energy. This one-industry bill would massively promote burning Maryland's trash and must be stopped for the sake of our health, environment and pocketbooks.

We don't need false solutions to environmental problems that will actually hurt the environment.

We are living in the 21st Century not the 19th. It is about time we took our environment and its future seriously. There are much better ways for us to deal with our waste. FOR OUR CHILDREN!

      1. Waste incineraters pose a massive threat to air and water quality that Maryland simply cannot afford (financially, health wise, or environmentally)

      2. As an African-American, I am well aware of the disproportional harm impacted upon the minority community but Waste Incinerating facilities

Incineration is dirty, dirtier than coal and dangerous in ways that, admittedly,EPA is unable to establish well-defined dangers.

Incineration produces TOXIC ash; as thus it insults a sense of healthy enviornment both above and below the earth.
