STOP BLOCKING ANIMAL RESCUERS/ADVOCATES FROM POSTING AT FACEBOOK

As you may well be aware, Facebook has proven to be a great resource for animal advocates in general by bringing awareness of animal abuse and cruelty and thus allowing we animal advocates to sign various petitions about such issues. Facebook has also helped in raising awareness of what goes on in the shelter systems of the USA and by animal advocates who have written to their local politicians to ban gas chambers that are still being used in high kill shelters.
One of the most important issues and impacts, however, is that Facebook is also a tremendous resource for animal rescuers to crosspost urgent pets on "death row" in high kill shelters nationwide and as a result has helped many an animal be saved from being "euthanized", a "polite" term for downright killed.
For sometime now, especially this past week, we in the animal rescue/advocate community are in a sense being penalized from trying to save the lives of so many shelter animals. And how you may ask is this being done? By the Facebook "bot" system itself. Fellow animal rescuers/advocates who crosspost and share the death row pets of shelters to as many places as possible have been blocked from posting anything, since Facebook's "bot" system is viewing our shared crossposts as "spam". One minute they are sharing/posting urgent pets needing to be saved, the next minute they are blocked from posting anything.
Here we are, animal rescuers/advocates trying to make a difference, trying to make a dent in saving the lives of animals and yet viewed by Facebook as spammers, while ironically, there continues to exist pedophiles, hate groups and pages and they aren't being reprimanded nor punished in the least.
Does something sound wrong here?
We need changes that can hopefully be for the better that could be made and established by the CEOs of Facebook, including of course, Mark Zuckerberg to allow we in the animal rescue/advocate community to do what we do best…save lives!

I'm still "amazed" that there remains no news media coverage about the blocking issue at Facebook, since in the past there had been. Also, seems like the "geniuses" at FB haven't remedied the situation yet since people are STILL being blocked!

    2. MY ARTICLE ABOUT FB BLOCKING FINALLY PUBLISHED!

Well I still haven't heard anything in the mainstream newsmedia about the FB blocking issue. Took the initiative and wrote one myself

    8. My Own Experience About Adopting A Shelter Pet

      Melanie Neer

If it hadn't been for my own involvement with crossposting urgent pets over at Facebook, I wouldn't have found my "own" newcomer cat to adopt. I'm aware of many pages/groups at Facebook that are of course pet related. Back in Oct 2012 an "auction" was held by a shelter and I came across one cat that one could co-sponsor and which I did. His shelter name was "Dot". But then I decided to take the next step, as yes decided to adopt him. I would never have "found" my new "baby" if it hadn't been for Facebook!

    10. Let's Get This Issue In The News!!

      Melanie Neer

First of all, I wish to thank everyone who has signed this petition. I'm amazed at how many people have signed already in less than 24 hours!
I also feel we need to get this in the news media, so I'm encouraging everyone to also contact TV News Stations and Newspapers. I have already contacted Huffington Post about this issue and basically said the same thing to them as in this petition. They have a HUGE following and have done animal related issues in the past. So perhaps you TOO can write to Huffington Post.

These animals need our help. They can't help themselves. Put yourselves in their position. Wouldn't you be thankful. We need a positive change.

Notices about animals on death row need to reach as many people as possible in hopes that someone can save them. Having notices and cross-posts blocked because a computer thinks they are spam defeats the purpose of using social media in one of the most important ways it can be used - to help these animals. Please remedy the problem in your system.

I and others receive warnings for sharing animals yet you allow spam pornography, sunglasses ads and other items to go unchecked. Allow us to continue our life-saving work for community good and focus efforts instead on blocking those who deserve such.
