Review New Hampshire's Stand Your Ground Law

I'm calling on New Hampshire to conduct a review of the state's Stand Your Ground law.

Calling for 'Stand Your Ground' laws to be reviewed is a bipartisan effort. President Obama spoke out on the need for review, and prominent Republicans like Senator John McCain have joined him.

'Stand Your Ground' was never meant to give aggressors the opportunity to get away with murder, but unfortunately that is sometimes the case. And after Trayvon Martin's death, even former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who signed into law the first Stand Your Ground bill in the country, said: "Stand your ground' means 'stand your ground.' It doesn't mean 'chase after somebody who's turned their back.'"

New Hampshire should at least conduct a review and evaluation of our state's Stand Your Ground law.

I am getting more and more concerned as citizens are walking around with open carry and after hearing one of the extreme groups ranting about gun rights on the statehouse steps. I am more afraid then ever to go to the mall and other public places because I find the guns terrifying and am afraid someone will interpret my being scared the wrong way. Please repeal Stand Your Ground! I think people have a responsibility to seek ways to leave a situation and leave it to law enforcement in the case of possible violence. If a person is being physically attacked and fears for their life, then it is self-defense and that doesn't need Stand Your Ground!

Stand your ground gives the impression that it is ok to SHOOT First and then ask questions.
