I'm calling on New Hampshire to conduct a review of the state's Stand Your Ground law.
Calling for 'Stand Your Ground' laws to be reviewed is a bipartisan effort. President Obama spoke out on the need for review, and prominent Republicans like Senator John McCain have joined him.
'Stand Your Ground' was never meant to give aggressors the opportunity to get away with murder, but unfortunately that is sometimes the case. And after Trayvon Martin's death, even former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who signed into law the first Stand Your Ground bill in the country, said: "Stand your ground' means 'stand your ground.' It doesn't mean 'chase after somebody who's turned their back.'"
New Hampshire should at least conduct a review and evaluation of our state's Stand Your Ground law.
