There's been no mention of it in any leader’s debates. Neither Kevin Rudd nor Tony Abbott have made any major speeches about it. And neither party have outlined a plan to address it -- yet for hundreds of thousands of Australians, working poverty is the nightmare we wake up to every day.
I'm a single mother of two beautiful boys aged 16 and 12. They're great kids and I work really hard to give them everything they deserve, and send them to a good school. But no matter how hard I work, or how simply we live, it's a struggle to make ends meet.
And I know I'm hardly alone. Recent stats say about 2.2 million Australians live in poverty and are really struggling -- and yet instead of creating a plan to tackle these kinds of issues that actually matter it seems this election is all about trading slogans and attack ads.
That's why I'm asking our political leaders how they are going to tackle poverty.
Whatever your politics, this is something our leaders need to put front and centre, and actually deal with. Please sign my petition and share it around with friends and family.
