Keep the Film Production Tax Incentive in Florida

They say Miami is the next "HOLLYWOOD"?.... Well, I just don't see it...... State Incentives help with production budgets so that Producers can bring their film projects to Florida, thus generating the much needed revenue for the state as well as create additional employment for Floridians and continued artistic opportunities for local Actors and professionals specializing in all areas of the entertainment industry. Some of the biggest shows to date have been filmed here or are currently still in production in Florida. Shows like "Burn Notice", "The Glades","Magic City", "Graceland", "The Arrangement", the Michael Bay film, "Pain and Gain" and this summer's blockbuster: "Iron Man 3", created countless jobs and opportunities for local industry professionals and lent a huge boost to small and large businesses alike. The production cost to film a single episode can exceed the 200k mark and cutting the Film Tax Incentive will put Florida at a huge competitive disadvantage with neighboring states. The 'Lure' to film here in Florida will soon be lost and for production offices, it will be simpler to seek shoot locations elsewhere, where the incentives are booming in states such as Georgia, Louisiana and others. Let's face it, if the incentive is gone so are our opportunities as Actors, Technicians, Artists, Drivers, Caterers, Suppliers, Electricians, Security personnel, Makeup artists, etc. Other businesses will also lose in potential revenue such as hotels, car rental companies, health and beauty stores, clothing stores, gas, and other support services, that benefit from these productions. Due to the uncertainty of the Film Tax Incentive, we have already lost several potential productions that moved their filming elsewhere. Actors and Entertainment Industry Professionals are in true "Pursuit" of their careers. We must go and be where the opportunities are abundant. Please help to keep the Florida Film Tax Incentive active. The time is now to show our strength in numbers if not by presence or voice, but in signatures. Please join me in signing this petition and help support to keep our Film Tax Incentive here in Florida, we certainly deserve it.

Keep the Film Production Tax Incentive in Florida

We are going into our 3rd month of 2014. What can we do collectively as artists and as one voice that we need the Film Tax Incentive in Florida? I am saddened to continuously read about all of the awesome castings going on throughout the South East Region that does not include Florida. Please promote this petition on your artistic pages, text messages, twitter, etc... The petition is forwarded every 1000 - 1500 signatures to the Governor's Office. It is such an important cause, for us as artists to keep it in the spotlight. We work and train too hard on our craft to be limited on what we are artistically limitless to. If you are passionate about this as I am, please urge your colleagues to sign and pass it on..... Thanks Again!

It is truly amazing to read all of your comments and to share similar concerns about this troubling issue affecting not only us actors, but also so many others that depend on this industry to simply 'make ends meet'. We are only 60 signatures away from hitting the 1000 signature mark! Imagine what 1000 of us industry professionals would sound like at the Governor's office. Do you think he'll pay attention? Please continue to pass this link on and thanks for your support! - "if you develop the habits of success you will make success a habit"- Unknown Smart Person..

I am a Florida resident and also an actor. Bottom line is I want to continue to WORK and LIVE in this beautiful state, and there are thousands of others that are involved in this industry (directly or indirectly) that feel the same way. The solution is beyond simple to me. Bring back the tax incentive to this state... EVERYONE WINS.

I'm a 23 year old college student at Valencia College majoring in theater and acting and it is quite sad that a person like me who lives in such a beautiful state and is trying to pursue his dream as an actor has to worry about not having an acting job here in Florida because of a lack of film production tax incentives in the state. Please I urge you to change this matter. The hope, dreams, and futures of many young up and coming artists such as myself depends on it.Thank you

Basically it's important because of the revenue generated for Florida workers! Not only do actors, crew, support staff benefit, but restaurants and other businesses get a boost. On a purely personal basis, it means my actor husband and I have more disposable income to spend in our community!
