Mrs. Katz is an amazing teacher, loved by all the students in her classes, many of whom are very disappointed that the school has decided not to have her back next year. We believe that she is indispensable as an Arabic teacher, as well as more than competent as a Jewish History teacher. Some teachers just present the information at hand, but Mrs. Katz engages the students in a way that is both interesting as well as informative. Her classroom environment is upbeat and educational, and the engaging mood stimulates learning. Many students who were initially interested in Arabic were even more motivated to take the class because of Mrs. Katz's impressive teaching abilities. These same students have become so dedicated to the class and to Mrs. Katz that many have worked their entire high school education/schedule around the class. Removing Mrs. Katz would mean an abrupt end to many students' Arabic education, since part of their interest is in being taught by Mrs. Katz. Students would have to find a new pursuit, which they may or may not have passion for, and their entire academic careers could potentially be damaged. Asking Mrs. Katz to leave would be a serious loss for her students, and to the CESJDS community as a whole.

Pursuing a career in Arabic studies (and culinary arts) has always been one of my passions. Bereft of Ms. Katz, I would find such a task close to unattainable. If this process goes through, I would unequivocally part ways with the school itself. Now CESJDS, what is more important-- her absence or my tuition fees? You decide...

Mrs. Goldstein is honestly one of my favorite teachers. I have only had her for half of a semester, but I have been able to see how passionate she is for everything she teaches, both inside and outside of the classroom. I don't think I have ever seen a teacher demonstrate the passion that she shows for the subject which she teaches about (Israel). Her undeniable love of Israel is apparent on any day in the classroom, in her teachings and outside of the class discussions. In addition, she stops students in the hallways to say hi, tell them how proud she is because of an assignment that she completed, or just catch up. Her love and devotion to her students is EXTREMELY admirable. I can not do her justice in this response, but I can say that she inspires and is a role model to several students at JDS.

My daughter not only enjoys Mrs. Katz's class, but having her there also provides her the only opportunity at JDS to take a third foreign language - something exceedingly important to her and to us.
