On Sunday evening, January 8, 2012, county police said officers were called to Mill Centre Drive. A woman had seen a man walk out to his 23-foot-high balcony and throw something. After further investigation, the woman discovered that "something" was an injured Yorkshire Terrier. She picked up the tiny pup and took him to the animal hospital.

Police charged Gary Wallace, Jr, a 43-year-old man who lives at the premises, and charged him with 2 counts of animal cruelty: animal mutilation and felony animal cruelty. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

Remarkably, little Louie has survived this heinous act of cruelty and is reported to be recovering rather quickly, despite his head trauma and other injuries.

Many times animal cruelty leads to human cruelty. Some of the worse serial killers were animal abusers. Animals are living, breathing beings and feel pain and love.

I have a yorkie and feel they are so precious as all dogs are and if I would be near him he would nevfer take another breath if I could help it- our laws need to install yhr death penalty for these crimes and a slow painful death at that

As an animal rescuer, I can't begin to tell you how disgusted and upset I am to hear about this animal cruelty case. I urge you to please make sure this abuser is punished to the fullest extent of the law, but even then, it wont be enough for what he did. The abuser should also be ordered to stay away from animals in the future and he should also be sent to anger management classes. The animal cruelty laws in this country need some serious updating so that we have stronger deterrents for animal abusers/killers. Please speak up for this innocent dog who was injured and traumatized by this abuser. If he can do this to a dog I imagine he wouldn't think twice about doing the same thing to a child. Thanks for your consideration.

Animals have no voice, but humans do. We can't allow anyone to treat another life this way.
