Irvin Dana Beal was incarcerated for transport of Medical Marijuana. We can not allow the “War on Drugs” policy to victimize another human being. The public is now aware that in September, 2011, while awaiting transfer from jail to prison in Wisconsin after pleading guilty and being sentenced on a similar charge, Dana had a heart attack, which resulted in double-bypass open heart surgery. One week after returning to prison this past February, he had another heart attack and a stent had to be placed. He has other serious medical issues which are not being addressed in prison. We can not stand by while Mr. Beal is losing his rights, and even possibly dying in prison.

I have known Dana Beale since the late 1960's. I know him to be a gentle man who is deserving of compassionate treatment, especially in consideration of his worsening medical condition.

The War on Drugs is not leading to the safe, happy, fair and drug-free society it promised. Instead we see escalating examples of sincere, compassionate and well intentioned individuals like Mr. Beal being effectively neglected to death by what is supposed to be a system of justice. Judges bear a heavy responsibility for reversing this campaign of national moral self-destruction by virtue of their independence and power.

i've known dana beal for almost 25 years and though we're definitely not friends, i do have a tremendous amount of respect for the man for the work he does in advocating for the legalization and use of cannabis and ibogaine for medical applications.

let the man die in jail and you will have me and thousands of our peers who will never let anybody forget that you did.

      happy day

      peace
