Jerry Knowles: Please help us pass a law enabling County inmates to help clean up

    1. Petition by

      Take Back Tamaqua

We are proposing the law below be passed to help clean up not just Tamaqua but all of Schuylkill County: "If any borough with Schuylkill County is in need of clean up and is short staffed, that any town within the county can utilize Schuylkill County Prison inmates to clean up public areas that are in need."
We know this has been implemented in the past but I would like to see it as an actual written law so that the inmates can earn their keep since it is the citizens tax dollars that go towards housing and feeding said inmates.

It is very important that the illegal dumping of trash be stopped in Tamaqua and that a solution to clean up the existing trash within the town and on the borders of the town be found and implemented as soon as possible. Various organizations and individuals that are citizens of Tamaqua have worked long and hard to make this town a better and cleaner place to live in but now there is dumping going on near the Odd Fellows Cemetery and along the Schuylkill River that runs through town just to name a couple. This issue needs to be addressed as soon as possible being there are feral cats within town that are living off of the trash that is being so carelessly disposed of plus the health issues that can be caused by the stench of the trash deteriorating.

This is our home. We need to take pride in the way it looks. When my friends and family come to visit, I don't want them driving into a "dump".

I grew up in Tamaqua. Seeing my old stomping ground in dis-pare is disheartening.

Tamaqua is where I grew up before getting married and moving to Lansford. I still love Tamaqua. My mom, brothers and one son live there. I want to see it clean and beautiful!

Prison is not enough, to really learn a lesson inmates should have to help the community they harmed in the first place.
