Remove cancer-causing chemical from Pepsi!

    1. Petition by

      Center for Environmental Health

Our recent testing from 10 states found high levels of cancer-causing 4-MEI in all Pepsi cola products analyzed, while only 1 Coke product was found with 4-MEI problems.

Our tests found that the Pepsi products from Colorado, Illinois, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, Florida, New Jersey, Maryland and Ohio contain up to 8 times the amount of 4-MEI that triggers a safety warning in California where it either requires a warning label or must be removed due to health risks.

In fact, a soda drinker outside California who has just 2 Pepsi’s a week would exceed the state safety limit – an alarming statistic, given the average American soda consumer drinks more than 2 sodas every day! For the Pepsi with the most 4-MEI, you'd only need to drink it once a week to exceed the state safety limit.

It’s been more than a year since Pepsi promised to change their Cola nationwide --- and yet we found every product tested from outside of California still contains a cancer-causing ingredient! Pepsi recently promised to change again – this time they say it will happen by next February!

Urge Pepsi to act more quickly to clean up its act because consumers' health should not be risked with this cancer-causing chemical!

Tell Pepsi's CEO Indra Nooyi that you want safer soda now, not Pepsi with a cancer-causing chemical!

Coke Changed Caramel Color To Avoid Cancer Warning; Pepsi In Transition

In 2011, the state of California created a problem for the soda industry. The caramel color that Coke and Pepsi used to give colas that distinctive brown hue contained a chemical, 4-methylimidazole - 4-MEI - that is listed as a carcinogen by the state.

      Pepsi still contains cancer-causing ingredient

(NaturalNews) Last March, a third party watchdog group, the Center for Environmental Health (CEH) found dangerous levels of a carcinogen in the caramel coloring of Coke and Pepsi products. The carcinogen, 4-methylimidazole, is a byproduct created during the production of caramel coloring.

Pepsi: Cancer for a new generation?

Please don't take this as an endorsement. But when it comes to avoiding cancer while you gulp down a sugar-blasting brand-name cola, Coke is it. Pepsi has been lagging behind its main competitor in removing carcinogenic meth from its flagship cola product. Well, 4-methylimidazole, to be precise.

I have so far beaten 2 different types of cancer. I drink Diet Pepsi to help my airways to stay open, as I have Asthma and caffeine is a natural theophylline. I prefer Pepsi to Coke, but not enough to knowingly drink a soda containing as many carcinages as Pepsi now contains.
