Indiana stage collapse: Tell coroner to release Christina Santiago's body to her same-sex partner

When a stage collapsed during the Indiana State Fair over the weekend, Christina Santiago, was one of the casualties.

The Marion County coroner's office is refusing to release Santiago's body to her partner Alisha Brennon; the office cited DOMA as the reason why they've turned down Brennon's request.

Indiana law requires next-of-kin to pick up Santiago's body, the state won't recognize Santiago's partner, Alisha Brennon, as the surviving spouse.

Not again, I too, was denied access to my dying partner who drowned in our home by a hospital claiming I had no legal rights to be with my dying partner, the funeral home would not allow me to make arrangement for my deceased wife. This type of discrimination needs to stop

To anyone who is concerned about this story's validity. It is being reported as valid and to date the partner is in critical condition. I just spoke with Joe Mirabella, who is doing extensive research. I recommend we continue to push forward.

I have no idea where that is coming from. Christina's wife was never denied

any opportunity to claim the body. The aunt and friends are all working together to take care of things while Christina's spouse is recovering. Please spread the word! STOP the petition, it's not necessary!!!

I am a straight and married female..but believe that everyone should have a choice. If they chose to be life partners she has a right to her loved ones body plain and simple. We as a country are not GOD therefore who are we to Judge...let them be. Love knows no color..sex..etc.

Let's end the hate and lead with compassion. It's really very easy to do the right thing. Please do so.
