Help Animals Burned in Colorado Wildfires!

      Fort Collins, CO

There is a law in Colorado against any wildlife rehabilitators taking in or treating deer. This is due to concerns regarding Chronic Wasting Disease, according to the Colorado Division of Wildlife. While I understand those concerns, we currently have an extraordinary circumstance in the form of numerous wildfires burning across the state.

Towns near the fires are starting to see an influx of animals including bears, moose, and deer. Some of the deer have obvious burn marks on their faces and legs. Many of those also have young fawns with them. The doe in this picture appears to have burns to her face and left rear leg.  She was found near the High Park fire west of Fort Collins.  We are also finding orphaned fawns fleeing the fires. The CDoW has said they - and we- can do absolutely nothing to help these burned deer due to state law.

Please- ask the state to make an exception. These animals are clearly not suffering from Chronic Wasting Disease  when they have burn marks across their bodies. Burns are painful- allow these animals to be treated.

PLEASE help spread this petition.  We need as many signatures as quickly as possible in order to help animals currently affected.

Thank you.

If each signer could get a couple of friends to post and share the petition, we will be headed towards some great numbers to try and convince the government in Colorado to allow an exception to the law! THANK YOU!

Animals play an important role in the balance of nature and should be helped in emergencies. These animals are suffering and we could help them. They are not a danger as far as spreading Chronic Wasting Disease.
