Governor McCrory: Stop The Assault On Voting Rights

    1. Attorney General Roy Cooper
    2. Petition by

      Attorney General Roy Cooper

      United States

The act of voting is a fundamental right. House Bill 589 passed by the North Carolina General Assembly will restrict the rights of many and reduce access to thousands and thousands of North Carolinians. Now is the time for us to stand up and make our voices be heard. As North Carolina's Attorney General, please join me in asking Governor McCrory to veto this regressive elections bill.

Governor Pat McCrory
North Carolina Governor
Please stand with Attorney General Roy Cooper and voters across North Carolina and veto this regressive elections legislation [H.B. 589].

All people should be allowed to vote. As a teacher of Civics & Economics, I preach to my students to become informed citizens and use their power at the polls. Prior to the past couple of presidential elections, we as a country wanted everyone to vote. Now the party that has been losing decides they only want certain people to vote. Our state leaders have made North Carolina a laughing stock not only with the changes in voting, but education, environment, etc. Make North Carolina a progressive state instead of making us look like people from the Ice Age.

I live about 3 months in NC. I would consider moving here full time for work but NC under McCrory has regressed so shamelessly, I hesitate to consider it a viable place to live.

Roy, how can you start this petition when you will be defending this voter suppression bill. You have said publicly and to the News and Observer newspaper that it is your job to defend it. Hypocrisy and very Duplicitous. Ken Spaulding - a true leader - for Governor - NC.

There are two documented acts of voter fraud in N.C. in the last ten years. This is not about voter I.D. It's about making it more difficult for the elderly, young people, and people of color to vote, and that's just criminal.
