Over 10,000 adults are in various forms of solitary confinement in California prisons. At Pelican Bay State Prison in Crescent City 500 inmates have been in solitary for over 10 years, close to 80 for over 20 years and at least 2 for over 40 years.

Europe use solitary for a maximum of 30 Days; not 30 years. It should be "time-out" not long term housing. The US has 25% of the world's prisoners.

the abuse by the guards is something that cant be tolerated. It"s been going on for a long time. Not only here but in other prisons. Step back take note because you will reform no one like this. Look at your recidivism rate. What your doing isn't working. Change it.

Prison should be a place of rehabilitation and be capable of changing prisoners for the better, not merely a place of "punishment." Solitary confinement is torture and will never, ever help rehabilitate anyone. Vengeance is the Lord's.

Cruel, unusual, and indicative of a justice system based on money. We have more people in prison than any "civilized" country in the world. Either reform the system or jail the jailers. As citizens we mean as little as those incarcerated to the powers that be. Our turn will come if we fail to act now.
