"It seems to me that some of the Texas lawmakers treat cows better than they want to treat women. I grew up with cattle. If you have a pregnant cow that starts walking funny or looks sick, you get her seen by a vet. If the vet determines that the calf is dead, you make sure to get it out of there. Not doing so will most likely cause a severe infection which may render the cow infertile if not cause her death. SB5 would reduce a woman's access to this life-giving medical procedure, in an inexpensive treatment setting apart from expensive hospitalization, from a total of 42 clinics, down to 5, across the state of Texas." ~ Jackie G.

If SB 5 passes, Texas cattle will enjoy better, more affordable, more easily accessible , and more medically sound pre-natal care than Texas women. How can you knowingly allow denial of necessary medical care to be written into law? Furthermore, polls show that "71 percent [think] that the Governor and legislature should be more focused on the economy and jobs.... Overall, only 34 percent trust the Governor and the legislature to make decisions about women's healthcare," so we are not alone, not by far. You, however, are in the distinct minority.

Stop making war on the half of the human race that gave birth to you and find your heart instead.

To:
David Dewhurst, Lt. Governor of Texas
Gov. Rick Perry, Texas
Do not attempt to pass SB 5 again. I'm on this one, and I'm not going to rest until you hear from all the women you are attempting to subjugate, as well as the men in their lives, and their adult children. Quit making war on the half of the human race that gave birth to you and find your heart instead. Please.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

      Hey everybody,

We've reached 100 signatures, so let's keep going. I've made a few modifications to the petition, in order to clarify some points. We also wanted to add in the Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research Poll, showing over 70% of Texans want the Governor to quit grandstanding on divisive women's health issues, and get to work on creating jobs and a better economy for all Texans. (See this link for more info: http://gqrr.com/articles/2013/06/20/texas-voters-oppose-governor-perry-s-omnibus-abortion-bill/ )

Let's keep the momentum going! Can you get 1, 3, or even 5 more people to sign this petition?

      Thank you!

Let's keep going friends, momentum is on our side!

Imagine what would happen if each of you reached out and got 1 more person to sign, then they each got one more person to sign, and so on. If the bulk of these signatures came from Texas (voters) then we could be at the start of a powerful movement that could SHUT THIS DOWN NOW!

And that's all we're asking for -- Hands OFF!! Texas women and their reproductive health rights, as well as access to decent, humane medical care, already afforded the state's cattle.

You are not saving ANYONE from any pain with your ideologies. Your belief in sanctity dictates that every child must be born no matter the consequences. That is both against my beliefs and a harsh consequence for society to suffer. You are violating not only Roe vs Wade, but the very first amendment to the US Constitution. It does not matter if the founding fathers were Christian. They made that amendment so that everyone can have both freedom of, and freedom from religion.

Stop trying to infringe upon women's rights. Every woman should have the right to make her own decisions about her own body.

I vote and I am not going to vote for someone who wants to treat me and others like me as if we are half a person. If current Texas legislation want to alienate women voters by denying our right, its about time we do something about it.

This bill does not represent the will of the people as demonstrated by last week's events. Please represent us.

Because my right to choose is one reason I am a proud American. I have made that choice when I was younger and BIG ASS TEXAS GOVERNMENT wasn't trying to rule my life or my health decisions. I grew up poor and I used Planned Parenthood and other small clinics. Today I'm a practicing RN with more than 4o years of watching healthcare go downhill for the poor and women in Texas. Wendy Davis has been the first ray of hope I've had since you pigs try to destroy Ann Richards' reputation and legacy. I am sick of DICK Perry telling me and the rest of Texas how to run our lives when it comes to healthcare. We're on the LOWEST rungs of the ladder in the NATION in healthcare and education. Stand tall again, Wendy. We will eventually vote these folks out!
