Victory

Grace McKenna: We won our victory just a couple of days ago when Governor Deal hired a group of fantastic new board members! Thank you to everyone who signed this for your desire to help the community we live in.

As current DeKalb County school students, we are aware our schools could lose their accreditation due to incompetence and lack of attention given to financial operations in our system by many members of the current DeKalb Board of Education. For students who graduate from unaccredited schools, it can be a nightmare to get into college. It does not seem possible that the people who created the problem (many on the current school board) can reasonably solve the problem. Let us start fresh with a new board.

To:
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal
Replace the DeKalb County school board

Sincerely,
[Your name]

Since moving here in 2007, my daughter has been constantly bullied in DeKalb County Schools. Every time I try to reach the district's superintendent, they're resigning. I cannot get anything done about these situations. In my opinion the firing of this board is well over due. I'm just hoping for a future board, that's concerned about what school is about, "educating our future leaders". Thanks for your time and attention to this problem. Be blessed.

Education is freedom and power. it is the vehicle we use to change life chances. I have taught for over 40 years and I am still teaching. I cannot elieve that so many schools have such bad results and nothing has been done about it. i dont which to live anywhere else. But I do expect better management of schools and the delivery of the curriculum. If the present Board cannot deliver the goods, then the should go.

The Board has been ineffective for many years and they are dragging the whole system down. Our children deserve much better than this.

I have two children in DeKalb county schools and the education they have received is a joke. I will continue to fight for children in this school system but I will homeschool next year.
