Corning Community College to offer Natural Gas Training
Corning Community College's Academic and Workforce Development Center is offering Natural Gas Training March 27 - April 24, 2012 or May 15 - June 12, 2012.
This 72-hour non-credit training program will provide the basic skills needed to apply for entry level employment opportunities within the natural gas industry.
Topics covered will include an overview of the natural gas industry, rig set-up and components, the drilling/fracking process, water use, OSHA 10, confined space, hydrogen sulfide awareness, fall protection, and medic first aid. There will also be class presentations by local natural gas companies, an on-site rig tour, and a tour of a fracking facility.
The Marcellus Shale covers 95,000 square miles across New York, Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia. Drilling in this giant gas field will yield decades of gas production and new employment opportunities.
