There is a huge threat to hundreds of homes and business as well as millions of dollars in infrastructure in the Port Hueneme area. Since January, abnormally high tides, large waves, and high winds along the Ventura County coastline have reduced the sand the Army Corps placed at the beach in December 2012. Due to Army corps budget constraints, the recent sand bypass operation was inadequate to sustain the shoreline until the next scheduled transport. Consequently, Hueneme beach is experiencing dangerous erosion that threatens basic city infrastructure, flooding of homes and businesses, and the deep water Port of Hueneme. Please restore this beautiful beach to its normal state through a mid-cycle dredge of the Channel Islands Harbor sand trap.

Some of my best memories took place on this beach. It would be a shame for others to not be able to enjoy because of a serious erosion problem.

I've been out of the Pirt Hueneme area for a couple of years but love this beach dearly. I grew up fishing on the Port Hueneme peer with my father and have very find memories of the area as I'm sure most people that grew up in the area. I will make any effort to keep the beach maintained.

I grew up going to this beach every day in my youth. I have never seen it in this state of erosion. The beach looks so different and it hurt my heart, as if I am seeing my childhood memories erode away with the beach. I would like to see it restored to it's old state.
