From Petition Creator: SLEA and the San Lorenzo School District came to an agreement! Class sizes were reduced to 25 students in TK, K and 1st, and to 27 students in 2nd and 3rd. The district was finally willing to give classroom maximums. The rest of the grades still need smaller class sizes: 31 students in 4th and 5th, 34 students in 6th - 8th, and 36 in 9th - 12th. We will continue to try to reduce these in the coming years. For more information about the outcomes go to our facebook page.

Our state supported Proposition 30 to support local San Lorenzo schools. In San Lorenzo the Proposition 30 money, and other state finances are not being used to support schools; they are being put into reserves savings accounts. The district has been saving for a fiscal crisis for years. You voted to prevent this crisis and keep money in the schools. However, the Board is still trying to save money, instead of using it to better educate the youth of our community. Please sign our petition requesting that the school board releases these funds to lower class size, restore student services and provide competitive salaries.

To:

Support San Lorenzo Schools. We know that by decreasing the class size, increasing services and increasing salaries, our students can get the education they deserve. Please release funds to go to the support of our students.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I was once a student of San Lorenzo and I know that there needs to be a change.

It is our moral duty and an amazing honor to care for the children of this country and to insure that they have the best access to the best that education has to offer. Small class size and individual attention are necessary for the very young to grasp the concepts they are being taught and to know that they are truly cared about by their teachers.

As a teacher librarian who used to work in a San Lorenzo school library, I've seen the middle school librarians released and the beautiful new libraries sit wasted, with no qualified librarians. Do the high schools still share one librarian? Reducing class size and restoring librarians and other valuable services is essential. Thank you.

The future of our great country is in the hands of our children and grandchildren. It has been proven without contention that smaller class sizes allow teachers to provide that all so important one on one education.
