DO NOT CLOSE OUR SCHOOLS!

The closing of schools on Chicago's South side will cause a major deficit to our neighborhoods. The closing of schools will cause job loss and disruption within each community! Families that live in these communities will begin to move in order to find better schools for their children. Children will suffer within the schools they are transferred to because of overcrowding and fear of danger to themselves. Teachers will have a harder time reaching children that are struggling because of the larger numbers. The closing of Chicago City Schools will cause a loss across the board for students, teachers, employees, communities and Chicago as a whole.

On Wednesday 4/10/13 Barbara Byrd along with the State of Illinois passed a law that "sexeducation" will be changed in the Chicago City Schools. Sexeducation will be taught now starting at Kindergarten through twelfth grade. The students will be taught good touch bad touch, reproduction, family structure, homosexual tolerance, sexual identification. Schools are being closed because there is no money but this program will be costly as counselors will be needed as well as specialty training for teachers. If the budget is so tight why then add an unnecessary program that is going to cost money? Our children do not need to be piled on top of each other in classrooms with the promise of air conditioning, they need to be taught educational tools that will allow them to grow academically. Lets close the schools that are needed and teach our children about more sex...that is just what they need.

A decision, critical to the well-being of children, is being foisted upon them and their communities by an unelected school board, based on the dictates of a power-hungry mayor. That embodies an extremely UNDEMOCRATIC process that beifts a dictatorship much more than a republic. If the people do not stand up for their basic rights now, soon, it may be too late.

The teachers at Canter are dedicated and excellent. The programs are great for students, as they know how to raise a child's grades. Canter does not care if you do not live in the neighbirhood; everyone is a part of their tight community. My son deserves a great school and the best education and that is at CANTER MIDDLE SCHOOL.

I love Canter Middle School. It is a great school that I chose to enroll my sons into. The classes are moderate in size and the teachers are really concerned about the educational and emotional needs of the students. Please continue to sign our petition to keep the doors open!!
