Negros Oriental launches bid for chance to host 2013 Palarong Pambansa
DUMAGUETE CITY, Oct 2 (PIA) -- Negros Oriental launched yesterday its bid to host next year’s annual Palarong Pambansa sports event.
Provincial and local government officials here joined around 5,000 students in a jam-packed Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex yesterday to show their support to the province’s campaign to host the national sports event in April next year.
A short program was held inside the complex to show the unified support given by the local governments, private and public schools, and the Department of Education (DepEd) here.
The launching highlighted by cheers, pom-poms, a cultural presentation, confetti and speeches from government officials and Dumaguete-born Olympian archer Jennifer Chan was filmed and will be shown when local DepEd officials formally present their bid at DepEd Manila on October 8.
In his speech, Gov. Roel Degamo said the province is “more than ready” to host the Palaro Pambansa next year.
