      Moving Maryland Forward

Human trafficking is happening in Maryland, and is the world’s fastest-growing criminal enterprise.

Victims of human trafficking can be males and females, adults and children, U.S. citizens and foreign nationals. Victims are exploited for forced labor and commercial sex acts like prostitution and pornography, and the number of victims are growing. Recently, criminal activity has shifted from trafficking in narcotics to trafficking in humans. After all, the penalties are lighter, the supply of “product” is endless and the marketplace for sale is expanding. There is something you can do!

We can no longer pretend that this crime only takes place in major cities or foreign countries. The first step toward bringing this crime out of the shadows is to educate yourself on the realities of human trafficking. There are numerous misconceptions about what human trafficking is, who can be a victim and what members of the public can do about it.

Learn more about human trafficking myths and facts and what you can do to help stop it. Once you complete the pledge, you can educate yourself and others by downloading, printing and sharing our human trafficking fact sheet on the next page!

All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."

      -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Let us today seek to find that place within each of us where dreams are made, where our highest aspirations take shape. Let us confirm the power of our humanity by giving architecture and substance to the dreams we have for our nation, so that the promised land of social and economic justice that is within our dreams will soon be within our sight.

Baltimore has a large population minor victims of sex trafficking. We need to educate people of the facts and to save children from lives of destruction.
