Springwatch have made a statement today saying that they will not be showing or talking about the debate surrounding the badger cull. This is disempowering its viewers to make their own decision and shows the power those in charge have over the information we recieve. We live in Democracy where debate should be celebrated . There also could not be a better platform than Springwatch to discuss this . Please sign my petiton to stop the BBC culling democracy!

I'm sure the professionalism of the Springwatch production team would screen unbiased factual content

Because I don't agree with avoiding the important issues by censorship.

At this moment in time, people seem to be more reactionary with what is going on in the news. Thanks to other broadcast corporations, they only see a very biased view, even a biased opinion, in news of the day. The BBC has, and still is, a source of information, partly due to the t.v license that people pay. As a result it broadcasts a balanced opinion of how they believe the people feel, for example you have Paxman and Clarkson, and then to counter-balance this, factual documentaries, Sir David Attenborough and Stephen Fry. By allowing the viewer to create an opinion, or indeed accept someones opinion as their own, they are given a balanced and consensual agreement, that they understand both sides of the argument. By not allowing Springwatch to even talk about badger culling and why it should or should not happen, doesn't allow for the viewers to create a balanced argument. Even if the speculation meant that Springwatch should talk about both reasons in an equal manner which would allow the viewer to make their mind up.

Springwatch campaigns against habitat loss and pollution. It should not ignore one of the biggest ecological issues of the year. Many viewers do not understand the science, surely the job of Springwatch is to explain.
