Read this blog which also links to numerous other articles and it will tell you why: http://www.insidesocal.com/tomhoffarth/archives/2012/04/what-would-it-t.html But essentially Frank Jobe is a pioneer in the field of orthopedic surgery. Specifically he has prolonged the career of countless professional baseball players including Tommy John and Orel Hershiser. His contribution to baseball from a medical perspective is legendary. Dear Dr. Frank Jobe for MLB Hall of Fame supporters,

I know I have been quiet for a while, but for good reason. We now have an official campaign website and PR firm helping to promote this great cause!

If you haven't already, please visit the campaign website (drjobehof.org) and follow along on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/DrJobeforHOF) & Twitter (https://twitter.com/DrJobeHOF). Also, we need your help! Please share the website with your friends and contacts and invite them to follow along on the social media sites, and of course continue to encourage people to sign the petition. Since the website launched on Sunday, we already have an additional 20 signatures, so let's keep the momentum going. Every little bit counts!

A big thank you to everyone for your ongoing support; I know we get a lot of emails and are all very busy, but let's try our best to get Dr. Jobe the recognition he deserves.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone that has signed this petition for Dr. Jobe to be inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame. I would also like to encourage you if you haven't already done so, to share the link to the petition with others who you think would also support this goal. This will not be an easy accomplishment- folks have tried before to get him inducted (but I don't think anyone has started a petition before!). The Hall has very stringent induction criteria which is part of the obstacle. But that's where we all come in. Every person who has signed this petition so far has connections to baseball in some form or another. I hope it is through these connections that we get the Hall to notice and perhaps induct Dr. Jobe; at the very least acknowledge him with an Honorary Induction if he cannot meet their strict criteria. He deserves that at the very least. Thank you all again and keep the petition going! More updates in the future...

The history books of game of baseball aren't just written by players, managers, owners or journalists. Doctors, like Frank Jobe, have as many impact on these pages, as those pitching, hittng, or managing. He is an immortal of the game.

If the hall of fame is a place for baseball legends, Dr. Jobe without a doubt has a place among them. He changed baseball and sports medicine, and his contributions have come with such humility and grace. I can't thank him or his colleague, the late Dr. Lew Yocum, for how they have helped me with my career as a physical therapist. I am honored to call them "friend." And as I rehab the Tommy Johns that come my way, I can say, I know how, and with who, this all began...

Since 1982 I have I have had the professional honor and privilege of providing anesthetic services for Dr. Frank Jobe and his esteemed professional colleagues. As such I know firsthand the impact he has had not only on the multitude of both professional and amateur athletes he has attended to but also on the advancement of Sports Medicine as an orthopedic subspecialty. He personally encouraged me to incorporate the newer techniques of perioperative pain management so as to facilitate the comfort of his surgical patients. it is my profound hope and desire that his the Baseball Hall of Fame will honor his lifelong contributions to both professional baseball players and orthopedic surgery by securing for him permanent recognition in the Baseball Hall of Fame. I know I am not alone in feeling he is most deserving of this honor.
