Ventura County wants Donna Gillesby for permanent Executive Director of Ventura County Animal Services!

    1. Petition by

      Tiny Loving Canines

During her time as Interim Executive Director of Ventura County Animal Services (VCAS), Donna Gillesby has proven that she has what it takes to transition our county shelter into a no-kill facility. During her 15 months as interim Executive Director, she has successfully reduced the kill-rate in the VCAS shelter from 38% to 26%. We are confident that she is absolutely the change that VCAS has needed, and we, the citizens of Ventura County, animal advocates and animal lovers CANNOT let her go!

Ms. Gillesby has worked at VCAS for going on 21 years, holding just about every position in the shelter. She began her employment at VCAS in November 1992 in a temporary position as an Animal Control Officer I; temporary she was not. Donna continued to put animals first throughout her career, working under two different directors. Ms. Gillesby has always been able to administer policy in her role, but not able to establish it, and Ms. Gillesby is FOR No-Kill in Ventura County.

Ms. Gillesby is currently being overlooked for the position that she is EXCELLING in, because she has not completed a baccalaureate. We feel that the depth and breadth of Donna's hands-on experience in our own shelter is much more important and valuable than any degree could be to this particular position.

Please join us in trying to transition Ventura County Animal Services to a no-kill facility with Donna Gillesby in the lead - PROVEN CHANGE FOR A NO-KILL VENTURA COUNTY!

I have worked with Donna since 1998. With her years of experience, I would say she has earned a PHD in animal. welfare.

I first meet Donna, when an FIV positive cat was in her facility, he was passed over for adoption. She wanted him to go to a rescue, we checked him out along with others. She has a heart, along with this invaluable hands on experience. Ventura County will win by promoting Donna.

38% to 26% is an enormous task. Keep up the good work!

I would love to have a no kill shelter in Ventura County so these animals to have a chance to be adopted and live even if they aren't adopted in a timely manner.
