Millions of adoptees across America have been denied a copy of their orginial Birth Certificate by an archaic law that has been in effect for 75 years. This law has created ANCESTRICIDE for Millions of Adoptees which not only affect them, but their children and their children's children. This is a disgrace in a free country that an adult individual cannot have access to their own Birth Certificate. Please support this petition and ecourage your family and friends to do so.

To:
U.S. Senate
President Barack Obama
AN ADOPTEES RESTORATION ACT FOR EQUAL ACCESS TO THEIR ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I am an adoptee and am currently prevented by law from knowing my own genetic history. This is a human rights violation that must be fixed!

Because adoptees are singled out as a group as the only individuals in the U.S. who are not allowed to have a copy of their original Birth Certificate (OBC). Either Federally, or State by State QUICKLY, every state in the U.S. should allow adoptees to have a copy of their original birth certificate. There should be no contact vetoes allowed for birthmothers. We are the ones who relinquished our children, whether by coercion or by choice. After all these years, we should want our adopted children to have a copy of their OBC if they want it.

I need my birth certificate for obvious reasons. I need to know who I am, where I came from, my biological family/siblings, and my medical records for the safety and concern of my live and my children's lives... The same rights every other human has.

I don't like that ancestricide concept because the people live on... but yes I support this important and needed change. All people deserve access to their personal identifying information.
